Ahead of its worldwide release on Netflix later in 2027, guests at The Old Stables will be among the first audiences in the world to experience this monumental Australian production on screen.

The First Narrative Feature Shot in Antarctica

Where most cinema relies on sound stages and digital green screens, SHIVER was filmed on location amid the sea ice and extreme expanses of Antarctica near the Ross Sea. The result is a sweeping cinematic journey – an authentic, visceral love story between a young journalist on a scientific expedition and a field biologist, set against one of the most perilous and awe-inspiring landscapes on Earth.

The screening will be accompanied by an intimate panel discussion exploring the meeting point of cinema, literature, and climate science, featuring:

• Robert Connolly: Award-winning filmmaker, director, and co-screenwriter of SHIVER.
• Nikki Gemmell: Bestselling author, journalist, and co-screenwriter, whose transformative real-life journey to Antarctica inspired the original novel.
• Dr Tas van Ommen: Eminent climate scientist, glaciologist, and former leader of Australia’s Antarctic Climate Program at the Australian Antarctic Division.
• Gregg Borschmann (moderator), recorded for ABC Radio National Big Ideas.
